the list...

the original pieces from 2020

wayfinder smock

Wear it as a cool summer dress, a coverall or layer it for warmth, sleeves rolled up or left down. Available in serviceable linen or luxurious silk, this is an indispensable garment.

wiseheart shift

A lovely sleeveless shift that allows you to tuck your legs up on a seat while retaining your modesty. Wear it under the wayfinder smock or the wildflower camise, or sleep in it if you need.

wanderlust surcoat

A sturdy linen coat to keep the dust at bay, with deep pockets, an indispensable garment that can take you from the opera to the outback.

weaver trousies

Pants so comfortable you can do yoga in them. Perfect under the wayfinder smock or the wiseheart shift or the wind-dancer skirt, or just by themselves with the westward shimmy on a warm day.

wind-dancer skirt

A deliciously soft silk skirt that doubles as an underslip and gently rustles as you stride into the whirled.

wildflower camise

This generously cut sleeved top can be shrugged on over something sleeveless or worn on its own. It has pockets for your wildflower seeds and your hankie and lovely soft raw edges, both in the linen and in the silk versions.

westward shimmy

Both under and over-garment, this sleeveless shimmy has side-splits for ease of movement, so comfortable you’ll forget you are wearing it.

In 2022 we added the tidewanderer dress

made in linen and featuring dangling pockets along with a skirt that had un-buttonable sides, perfect for shore-strolling (or forest wandering) and gathering.

the pockets are particularly useful for gathering shells and seaglass, as their manoeuvrability allows for easy emptying

and here's how wide the skirt is when fully spread out.

above is how it looks on a hanger (before I have dipped it in oceans and bundled it with seaweed)

one of the first things I did to mine, was stitch poetry around the lower edge, where the hem is beautifully reinforced for such purposes

in 2025 three more garments joined the collection :: Māra, Naia and whispering leaf

there have been other pieces added to 'journeywoman' since 2020, but in this section I have only featured the ones I had a direct hand in designing (tidewanderer, Māra, Naia and whispering leaf)...or, for the original 2020 collection, selecting patterns and materials from Maiwa's extensive core collection while staying at the studio in Bagru, India. You'll spot the others here and there throughout the course.

they can be worn in assorted combinations, and will probably do me for the rest of my life. I love them.
