creating space...

Here's a look at my table so far.

I've given it a clean cloth (lovely old hemp bedsheet in need of a few mends).

A bowl of threads (pre-cut). There's a lot of blue going on...I seem to be falling deeper and deeper into that colour.

A candle. A cone of thread and a knife for cutting it just in case I need respite from blue.

A chocolate box from the 1956 Melbourne Olympics that holds drawing kit, matches, odds and bobs.

PIn cushion (given to me in New Hampshire thirteen years ago) with assorted pointy things in it.

A little bowl (just to the right of the pin cushion) holding dried cistus leaves...their labdanum scent is just delicious.

A bigger bowl with coils of pre-loved string for tying up bundles.

The big silk parcel in the middle holds my big squares as well as smaller scraps of fabric that may be transformed into squares, or used as odd shapes if they don't "fit the mould". The more I ponder this project, the more it seems to want to be a "choose your own adventure", I like that!

And the piles of trinkets either side of the drip sheet? Those are my clankers, removed form my wrists so that their chiming and jingling won't over-ride the storytelling. You'll see in the videos that there are still a few on my wrists...they're the ones that will no longer slide over my farmer's hands.
