what you'll need

This is your big chance for a clean out of old drawings, half-filled notebooks and any unmounted paintings (whether on paper or canvas) that you aren't particularly happy with. We will make magic with them.

Gather together a few books whose pages feel good to you, but whose content no longer interests you in its present form. We may harvest entire pages for printing, or phrases and words for collage. We may be drawing and painting on them.

Look through old notebooks for blank pages (or pages whose writing you no longer care for).

Choose some nice threads (the sturdier kind) to work with, and needles with good eyes.

You'll want scissors, and maybe some glue (those compostable packing peanuts dissolve in water to make excellent glue or painting medium).

Save up your old teabags (they're a good source of colour).

You'll want a pot to boil up papers in, and a pile of old towels to lay the papers on to dry.

And collect up any art materials (pencils, pastels, crayons, charcoal, watercolour, ink, acrylic and so on) you'd like to use. There are no rules here, you can use what you like, whether that is hand-made ink from local berries or your favourite colour in a tube from the art store. I am not here to judge!

A few box clips and big rubber bands may come in handy when holding pages together for stitching.
