the perpetual dyepot

setting up and maintaining a dyepot that just gets better with time and use

   Watch Promo

How to set up, manage and maintain a dyepot that gets better and better with time and use...and how to safely store it when you need to set it aside for a while. In this course I discuss the choice of vessel, tempering the pH and preserving a "dye mother".

Running a perpetual dyepot saves water and tedious pot-scrubbing between brews. I love what happens when metals are allowed to engage with leaf-matter and the resulting brew becomes a co-mordant, yielding much more interesting results from your bundles than those that have been put together clinically and layered with plastics. With the exception of indigo, all of my dyeing takes place in the perpetual pot.

This course includes a bonus downloadable PDF of my 2013 booklet about preservation dyeing, "stuff, steep, store".
