reviving rusted relics
a simple means of removing rust from retrieved objects
While a rusted wall can be very beautiful, the red rust that blooms on iron or steel objects exposed to air and water (with or without the presence of salt) is not our friend. It can eat into the substrate and if left untreated, will do serious damage to it. If we breathe in flakes of it ( rust dust) it can cause bleeding in the lungs. There’s a misguided theory that rust can be neutralised using things like bicarb soda. This is nonsense.
The brief video in this free class shares a safe and simple means of removing rust from objects, so long as you possess a pan they can fit into.
